Cleansing vs. Charging Crystals

Cleansing vs. Charging Crystals

In a pervious post we talked about different ways to charge and cleanse your crystals. But what’s the difference between charging and cleansing?

When we use crystals, we put them to work. Crystals work hard to raise the vibrations of other objects, people or spaces. Crystals, like tourmaline, can absorb energy and it needs to be cleared to continue working effectively.

First you’ll need to cleanse the crystal. By doing so, you’re releasing any energies that are attached to the crystal that are not for your highest good.

Now it’s time to charge your crystal. Charging the crystals raises the vibration back up to be able to continue working. The full moon is a very popular to this. Make sure you are clear with your intentions and it matches the crystal’s metaphysical properties. For example, if you’re trying to bring in self love, you’ll want to use a rose quartz not a grounding crystal. Whatever method you choose make sure you do your research to make sure it doesn’t damage the crystal.

How do you know when it’s time to charge or cleanse your crystal?

If your crystal breaks randomly it may have absorbed too much negative energy without it being cleared. To avoid that I try to cleanse and charge my crystals regularly.

For my crystals I use for daily wear and protection, I try to cleanse them once a week. If I used crystals on someone else during a session, I cleanse them immediately. Crystals around the house I will cleanse anywhere from once a week to once a month depending if they’re just decorative or serving a specific purpose.

You’ll want to make sure you’re cleansing any  crystal you give a “job” to regularly to make sure they’re able to do their best work.
